BJ Preaching

BJ had a variety of jobs before surrendering to God’s call on his life for ministry.  He worked as a draftsman for San Angelo Communications and Electronics, Mitsubishi Aircraft International, Reed Tool Company, and Baker Hughes Drilling.  He worked for a short time as a roughneck for Tom Brown Drilling during college.

BJ and Janet Wide
He planned to go to Texas A&M University to pursue an engineering degree until God called him to ministry and he met Janet Davis at Angelo State University.  Meeting Janet had more to do with his staying at Angelo State than anything else and they were married on July 16, 1977.

Family in Fall

BJ and Janet are blessed to have Jeremy & Whitney Rutledge, Chris & Julie Hurst, and Joshua & Hannah Rutledge as their grown children and spouses.  They also have four grandsons at this time, Barrett, Ben, Brock and Jack, and one granddaughter, Harper.

Family at Cabin SillyBJ’s hobbies include just about anything outdoors, and he loves to be in the mountains. He did a lot of water-skiing, including trick skiing, when he was younger.  He likes to fish and hunt, even though he rarely gets to do either of these much now, and taught each of his children the joy of hunting and fishing.  He also enjoys playing golf and riding motorcycles when he gets the chance.

When asked about his favorite scriptures, he was hard pressed to name just one.  He has so many that are favorites, but when asked to narrow it down to a few BJ said his favorites would be: Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NASB), Psalm 119:160 (NASB), Philippians 4:6-8 (NASB) and Romans 3:22 (NLT).
